about Ghana

Mobile money and digital payments

Ghana’s ecosystem includes MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, bank transfers, payment cards, USSD and merchant payment gateways. Mobile money is especially important when testing whether a digital service is genuinely usable by ordinary local customers.

Banks and fintech companies

Commercial banks, electronic-money issuers, payment service providers, lending platforms, savings and investment services, and financial technology vendors all operate under different regulatory requirements.

Remittances and cross-border transfers

People send money into Ghana through international money transfer operators (IMTOs), banks and approved payment partners. Funds may reach a bank account, mobile money wallet or another approved account, depending on the provider and arrangement.

Online betting and gaming

Ghana has a regulated gaming market that includes sports betting, casinos and remote interactive games. The Gaming Commission publishes a list of licensed operators, making this a useful area for legal market mapping and authorized user-experience testing.

E-commerce and digital services

Online retailers, subscriptions, international software services, digital content, travel bookings and other internet businesses rely on card processing, payment gateways, bank-issued cards and sometimes mobile money. Tax and payment rules may apply even when the supplier is located abroad.
